Recently, 13 physicians were appointed as members of the Society of Honorary Police Surgeons for the NYPD. Among those physicians was mesothelioma specialist Dr. Raja M. Flores.

This May, Dr. Flores was also honored at the ADAO conference. He was awarded the Dr. Irving Selikoff Lifetime Achievement Award for his passion for surgically treating his patients.

Being Honored by the Society of Honorary Police Surgeons

The process of becoming a physician for the NYPD is tedious. All of the nominees go through a process where their qualifications are thoroughly reviewed by the society.

It is considered a great honor to be a physician that is picked by the NYPD. When a service member or one of their family members are injured or sick, these honorary surgeons will treat and care for them.

“It is truly a privilege to serve the members of the NYPD who serve us and put their lives on the line every day,” commented Dr. Flores.
