Nurse Navigator and Patient Advocate

Karen Ritter is here to walk patients and families through the difficult diagnosis of mesothelioma. She is dedicated to helping find appropriate mesothelioma specialists, treatment centers, and advanced treatment options. Karen’s passion is to connect with her patients and family members to make sure they know they are not alone in this process. She understands that this diagnosis comes with a number of questions, fears, and financial burdens. None of these areas are left untouched, Karen’s goal is to educate and equip patients and families with everything they need to navigate this cancer diagnosis with grace, dignity and comfort.

Retired LCDR Carl Jewett

Carl Jewett is a retired naval officer (LCDR) and the patient advocacy director for Mesothelioma Guide. He also serves as the executive director of the Veterans Assistance Network and is fully accredited by the VA. After serving in the Navy’s submarine force for just under 24 years, Commander Jewett retired from active duty in the Navy and assumed the executive director position at the Veterans Assistance Network. Since that time, he has helped over 1000 veterans with asbestos illnesses get approved for VA Disability Compensation and Pension. He has been married for over 30 years and has three adult children.

Brett Butler is a community outreach supervisor at Mesothelioma Guide. He uses his communication skills to spread awareness about the deadly disease Mesothelioma and the dangers of Asbestos. In his spare time he loves cheering on the Atlanta Braves and spending time with his wife and son.

Community Outreach

Jeron McFarland is a community outreach member at Mesothelioma Guide. His goal is to help make mesothelioma and its effects common knowledge throughout the world. He strives to make Mesothelioma Guide the only resource you should ever need for mesothelioma information. When he’s not working he likes to stay fit, socialize and root on his favorite sports teams.
