Get to Know Dr. Khalil
Dr. Khalil is an accomplished thoracic surgeon with a specialty focus on mesothelioma. He also has specific experience helping veterans with mesothelioma, which accounts for nearly half of cases.
Due to the rarity of mesothelioma, Dr. Khalil is one of the few specialists in the United States for this cancer. As a medical reviewer, his insight and expertise is invaluable to the visitors of the Mesothelioma Guide website.
Dr. Khalil completed two thoracic surgery fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, learning from the expertise of Dr. Abraham “Avi” Lebenthal, Dr Raphael Bueno and Dr. Marcelo DaSilva. He also completed a surgery residency at UCLA Medical Center, which has a world-renowned mesothelioma treatment program.
He joined Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as an associate thoracic surgeon in July 2020. A little later, he assumed the lead role of the Boston VA mesothelioma program.
Dr. Khalil is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He received a medical degree at the University of Texas after working six years as a biomedical engineer. Dr. Khalil is also an instructor at Harvard Medical School.
