About Dr. Fontaine
Dr. Jacques Fontaine is a thoracic surgeon at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. He is the Section Head of the Mesothelioma Research and Treatment Center. Dr. Fontaine is recognized for his expertise in performing robotic-assisted surgeries.
When Dr. Fontaine isn’t teaching at the University of South Florida, he is also an active member in Moffitt’s Department of Thoracic Oncology and Department of GI Oncology. Outside of treating mesothelioma, Dr. Jacque Fontaine holds an interest in pioneering new ways to cure lung cancer and esophageal cancer.
Before Dr. Jacque-Pierre Fontaine joined the team at Moffitt, he was recruited by the Brown Medical School in Providence, RI. He helped develop the Thoracic Surgery Program at the university’s teaching hospitals.
Medical Degree and Residency
MD McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Dr. Jacques-Pierre Fontaine completed a residency in General Surgery at Boston University and the University of Montreal. He also did a residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. Fontaine also completed a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Brigham and Women’s is recognized nationally for its International Mesothelioma Program (IMP).
Professorship
Dr. Fontaine currently is an associate professor of surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, FL.
